Fun Activities Help 8th Graders Review Concepts Around Energy
At the end of January, Greendale Middle School students on the lower 8th grade team reviewed big ideas learned last year about energy, energy conversions, and energy transfers in systems through games like Jenga, dominoes, rubber band target practice, Marble roller coasters, card tower building, snap circuits, and ping pong ball bounce off. After students explored at each station, they identified which big ideas about energy helped explain what they observed. Students then determined which big ideas may not have been represented and offered ideas on new stations that would demonstrate those ideas. Classes will build on these ideas during the 8th grade physics unit exploring why objects start and stop moving. #LearnGrowEngageGreendale #CultivatingExcellence

The students used inquiry (they examined what life was like in the antebellum era), investigation (asked research questions and used primary and secondary sources), collaboration (compared their answers with team members), interrogated the Constitution and Bill of Rights etc. to see if their historical person had access to democracy, and finally, interpreted what it means to need a revolution, or complete change, in order to achieve the American Dream. They thought critically and creatively to complete their presentations. #WeAreInspiringMinds #PantherStrong
