District Assessments
Greendale Schools uses an interconnected system of assessment to ensure students are mastering grade level standards in their learning. Student testing includes:
- State and federal accountability testing.
- District-level assessments to measure student growth and learning.
- Classroom-level assessments for grading and formative purposes.
Assessment data is reviewed regularly to ensure students are growing at expected rates and to review practices to ensure student success. This is part of the district’s continuous improvement process. The schedule for district-wide assessments is found here.
Federal & State Accountability Testing
Greendale Schools administers the following assessments for the purpose of state and federal accountability:
- Wisconsin Forward Exam in the following grade levels:
- English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics in grades 3-8
- Science in grades 4 and 8
- Social Studies in grades 4, 8 and 10

Dynamic Learning Maps (DLM) in grades 3-11 in ELA and Mathematics, and in grades 4 and 8 -11 in Science for students utilize the Wisconsin Essential Elements Standards.

Pre-ACT Secure in grades 9 and 10 in English Language Arts and Mathematics.

The ACT Plus Writing in grade 11 for Reading, English, Mathematics, Science, and Writing.

ACCESS for our Multilingual Learners (varies).

YRBS for our 6-12 students every other year (odd year)
Classroom Assessments
Formative and summative assessments are important classroom evaluation tools and help educators review student learning and growth. Classroom teachers and support staff administer these types of assessments and review results in conjunction with mastering learning targets for all students.
