Greendale Schools’ Summit Place helps adult students with disabilities build the skills needed to transition into the next phase of life. Students enrolled in this unique transitional program for 18-21 year olds are focused on five specific areas:
- Work-based learning experiences
- Strengthening self-advocacy skills
- Preparing for post-secondary education
- Exploring recreation and leisure activities
- Building social and independent living skills
Program components are tailored to each student’s individual needs. The program is based in a furnished apartment where life skills are practiced. Students are also out in the community applying their skills and developing new ones. Highlights of Summit Place Programming:
- Student days begin with a similar routine: checking in, reviewing the day’s schedule, and completing a life skills warm up
- Individual student needs and personal goals guide learning
- Student plans feature meal planning and preparation, exercise, community outings and social interactions, and more!
