School Budget

School funding is complex. The state uses formulas that take into consideration enrollment (on a three-year average), property values of the local community, and revenue limit formulas to determine how much state aid is provided to districts and how much money a district can tax (or levy) its local community.

The Board approved the 2024-25 District Budget on October 28, 2024.  The 24-25 budget includes full usage of the $2.5 million operational referendum authority approved by voters in the April 2024 election.

Budgetary Principles

Greendale Schools uses TEN budgetary principles to guide its work:

• Remaining positive and putting students first.

• Using data to drive budgetary decisions.

• Investing in programs aligned with our district goals and priorities.

• Prioritizing resources for universal instruction support strategies.

• Maintaining flexibility with class size targets.

• Ensuring equality and equity in how resources are allocated.

• Recommending and investing in programming that can be sustained in the long-term.

• Allocating sufficient resources to fulfill reasonable needs of the curriculum review process.

• Being transparent about what is being funded in the budget.

• Utilizing ‘possibilities thinking’ to find alternative solutions to budgetary challenges.
