The Greendale School District has an active Special Education Advisory Team (SEAT). SEAT was created to bring together families and the school district. This team plays a critical role in helping to shape the overall culture and programming for special education and related services.
SEAT meets quarterly throughout the school year. |

SEAT Sponsored Space at Community Connections |
SEAT is sponsoring a sensory-friendly space to increase access to Greendale School’s Community Connections events. The Arab American Heritage Month event will be on Thursday, April 25th, 5:30 - 8:00 p.m. at College Park. FREE family fun with music, dance demonstrations, food, crafts, art, etc.
SEAT will also sponsor a “Just Ask” table to help raise ability awareness. Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in an interactive activity that celebrates differences. Free healthcare accessibility kits that include noise-reducing headphones, stress balls, fidget spinners, sunglasses, stickers, and a ShotBlocker will be provided by The Autism Society of America.
We are seeking volunteers to support the sensory-friendly breakout space and for students/ families to respond to "Just Ask" questions. If you are interested you can email me directly at: rachel.ledezma@greendaleschools.org. |

April is Autism Acceptance Month. The Autism Society of America’s theme for 2024 is #CelebrateDifferences. During March and April, our students are learning the ABCs of Ability Awareness & Autism Acceptance through daily announcements and classroom lessons. |

Autism Society of America x Greendale |
The Autism Society of America is teaming up with schools across the country to capture first-person stories that shed light on lived experiences of people with developmental disabilities. The Autism Society of America seeks to highlight the diversity across the community with focused questions related to daily life, community inclusion, and the accessibility of healthcare services.
Greendale School District has been invited to participate in this project. Students and families of individuals with developmental disabilities can participate in two ways. |

1.) Complete A Digital Survey |

2.) Share A Lived Experience Through A Video Interview |
Participate in a video-interview with the Autism Society of America. You can share a 4-5 minute interview response to one or more interview question(s). Email video to the Autism Society of America, Director of Education and Training, Kirsten Cooper: kcooper@autismsociety.org OR sign up for a recorded virtual interview by emailing the Autism Society of America, Vice-President of National Programs, Allie Tasche. Virtual interview participants will receive a $25 gift card. |
