Academic & Career Planning
Academic and Career Planning, also known as ACP, is something we began during the 2017-2018 School Year based on Wisconsin PI-26 legislation which requires school districts to provide academic and career planning services to students in grades 6 through 12. ACP is intended is to help students learn more about their interests and skills, to explore career pathways and educational opportunities, and to graduate with an attainable plan to reach their education and career goals. ACP is a graduation requirement (“graded” on a Pass/Fail, non-GPA affecting, manner) and students are expected to complete all activities prior to June 1st of their senior year.
Academic and Career Planning is student-driven and adult-supported where students create and cultivate their own unique and information-based visions for post-GHS success, obtained through self-exploration, career exploration, and the development of career management and planning skills.
We are excited about these still new opportunities for our students. Please remember that each student’s plan is fluid and dynamic as their interests and knowledge will change over time. ACP is not about creating a defined product. It is not a checklist to complete. It is teaching students a process to apply to making educational and career decisions that are relevant and meaningful to them and their futures.
