Originally built in 1957 with several additions and remodeling projects (most recently in 2008) construction was recently completed on Greendale High School. The project, funded by the 2018 $33.8 Million Facilities Improvement Referendum, provided updates in four main categories deemed important by the Greendale Community:
- Increasing security and school safety
- Improving learning environments
- Creating flexible and adaptable work spaces
- Improving building efficiency and sustainability
The 2019-2020 renovation included two additions. New construction was completed to expand the school’s music department and to create a dedicated gym entrance. Renovations were completed for the Fine Arts Wing, library and school store. Parking was added and vehicle traffic flow and site circulation was improved. New security doors, cameras and locks were installed, and the building was secured for community use of various areas, such as the gym, library, and auditorium during off-hours. Air conditioning was added, along with LED lighting and occupancy sensors in the new areas.
