Greendale Schools is diligent in its spending practices and works hard to control operating expenses. As such, the total School District levy, which determines the school portion of local property taxes (mill rate), has dropped each year since the 2013-14 school year. The chart shows mill rates (amount paid per thousand dollars of property value) for Greendale Schools over the past several years. Mill rate amounts for 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 are estimates.
The 2019 Mill Rate for Greendale Schools was $11.13, which is $0.20 lower than the projected mill rate communicated prior to the referendum vote. The increase in the school portion of a resident’s taxes is primarily because of referendum dollars. District operating expenses did not increase substantially for the 2019-2020 school budget.
