4K Students Show Off Hard Work During Digital Learning Period
The digital learning period has not stopped Mrs. Bushman's students from learning and working hard! Our 4K learners have been participating in Google Meets to connect with classmates and teachers and are engaged through activities like virtual ABC bingo and a gingerbread house-making activity. Students have also been working on packets of school lessons to continue their learning at home. These happy students showed off all of the hard work they had been doing from their school packets! #WeAreInspiringMinds #PantherStrong
Fun Scavenger Hunt Rewards Hard Work
To reward their hard work and perseverance last week, students in one Highland View fifth grade class chose the class incentive of a scavenger hunt. They were able to share some of their favorite things and celebrate their commitment to being responsible at the same time! #WeAreInspiringMinds#PantherStrong
Students Engage in "Hour of Code"
Last week was Computer Science Education Week! Students in Grades 5K-5 had the opportunity to participate in an “Hour of Code”. This program introduces students to coding and the possibilities that go along with learning how to code (creating commands on the computer to complete certain tasks). The fun our students will have with coding has begun!
Second Graders Celebrate Their Writing
In Mrs. Randall's 2nd Grade digital classroom, students have been working on writing about something they are an expert on. Students started by organizing their ideas into chapters, and then created a table of contents to help readers find information in their books. To celebrate, writers shared a part that they were most proud of in break-out rooms with their classmates! #WeAreInspiringMinds #PantherStrong
4K Students Connect With Virtual Get Together
Before the Thanksgiving break, some of Greendale's youngest learners, 4K students in Ms. Bushman's class, connected with each other virtually with a PJ and stuffed animal get together. #WeAreInspiringMinds #PantherStrong
School Focuses on Kindness
Our Time 4 Learning and Highland View students have been celebrating kindness in November. 4K students helped to create a heart with all of their handprints. After hearing the book "We're Different, We're the Same and We're all Wonderful", by Bobbi Kates, students drew a self portrait. They also read the book "Be Kind", by Pat Zietlow Miller. This story teaches children how to show kindness to others at school and the community and how a little kindness can make a big difference. #WeAreInspiringMinds #PantherStrong
Fourth Graders Share a Digital "Highland View Hello"!
In mid Novemver, Highland View's students, their families, and staff made the switch from in-person to digital learning. Pictured here, Mrs. Janicik's 4th grade class has fun during their morning meeting by taking turns doing a virtual “Highland View Hello”! #PantherStrong
Third Graders Learned About Life Cycles
Third grade learners at Highland View recently finished up their science unit on life cycles. They studied the life cycle of a bulb, a worm, and a butterfly. Students planted garlic bulbs, observed their bulbs for several weeks, and then got to take them home! #WeAreInspiringMinds #PantherStrong
4K Students Go On Leaf Walk While Studying Autumn
Mrs. Rechlitz’s 4K students have been busy learning about autumn. Learners created books on how the trees change throughout each season. In late October, students got to go on a leaf walk to collect beautiful colored leaves that have fallen off the trees around the school grounds. #WeAreInspiringMinds #PantherStrong
Students Studying World's Biomes
Fourth graders at Highland View each selected a biome to research for their science unit in Environment and Life in October. After learning about the characteristics, climate, flora and fauna in their biome, students created a project to display for the grade. The students grabbed their passports and took a trip around the world, visiting the different biomes and reporting back on what they learned! #WeAreInspiringMinds #PantherStrong
Students Process Numbers in a Variety of Ways
Kindergarten mathematicians at Highland View have been working on developing their Number Sense. Students are learning to recognize and represent numbers using numerals, words, dot patterns, fingers, number lines, number racks, and tally marks. They can show numbers in so many ways! #WeAreInspiringMinds #PantherStrong
Fourth Grade Researching World's Biomes
Where in the world are Highland View 4th Graders?! These fourth grade scientists are learning about different biomes around the world in October. Students are working on how to use different research strategies and take organized notes using both electronic and book resources to find information. Over the coming weeks, learners will get to "travel" around the world and have their “passports stamped” as they visit their classmates’ biome presentations! #WeAreInspiringMinds #PantherStrong
Is Highland View The End of the Rainbow?
Someone once said, "Count your rainbows, not your thunderstorms." That was easy at Highland View one day at the beginning of October, as this amazing photo shows! #PantherStrong

Each month, students at HV focus on a different Character Education theme, or trait, in order to deepen their understanding of our four big ideas/expectations of being safe, respectful, responsible, and kind. Our Panther Pride Post provides families with communication around our monthly topic(s) and includes ways for you to become involved at home through table topic discussions. To find out more information around our September focus on OPTIMISM, see the image here. #WeAreInspiringMinds #PantherStrong
