Tassia Hughes, Vice President

Tassia Hughes was elected to the Greendale Board of Education in 2022. She grew up in Wauwatosa with her educator parents: her dad, a high school biology teacher and her mom, a third grade teacher. Ms. Hughes is a 22-year Greendale resident and mom of three district students, attending elementary, middle and high school.
She has volunteered in the schools in a variety of ways, including as classroom helper at the elementary schools, raffle night volunteer, PTO popcorn mom, Clean and Green driver, Greendale High School Marching Band food coordinator and competition chaperone, and a Greendale High School Robotics chaperone for team competitions. Ms. Hughes also served on the district's Citizen Budget Committee and was a member of the 2008 strategic plan committee. In addition, she was a substitute teacher for the Greendale School District and enjoyed working in the different schools.
Her community volunteer activities include Girl Scout Leader for one of the Canterbury Elementary troops, spanning six years, and a violinist for Milwaukee Festival City Symphony PJ concerts, which provide free concerts to younger children in order to foster a love of music. Ms. Hughes earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an MBA in Accounting from UW-Milwaukee Lubar School of Business. She taught Introductory Accounting and Cost Analysis at UW-Milwaukee, while obtaining her MBA. Early in her career she served as an auditor and actuary for two large Milwaukee accounting firms and later as a financial consultant for Northwestern Mutual.
Ms. Hughes is married to David Hughes. In her spare time she enjoys downhill skiing, playing tennis and swimming. In the evenings she is a violinist for the Milwaukee Festival City Symphony.
