Teacher leadership is crucial to our success as a school system because “they build the entire school’s capacity to improve.” (Educational Leadership, “Ten Roles for Teacher Leaders,” Wept. 2007, p. 74) We have been developing leadership skills in our teacher leaders, further enhancing our capacity.
Various teacher leadership roles exist within the schools. Teachers provide peer coaching for colleagues in their schools, participate in curriculum review, organize, plan, and deliver specific professional development/ training activities for teachers, support strategic continuous improvement initiatives, and act as a liaison with administration.
