Our school theme this year is "Capture the Moment!". To celebrate our school theme, our College Park PTO is purchasing every student and staff member a t-shirt to be worn every Monday. We are asking our parents/guardians to indicate what size their student(s) will need. Please take a moment to indicate the size needed for each of your student(s). Please complete THIS FORM by Thursday, October 1. Thanking you in advance for your cooperation in this matter and we appreciate your quick response! Second graders teamed up after learning about Fred, a friendly worm who took his boat out one day. However, Fred wasn't very safe because he forgot to wear his life preserver. Unfortunately for Fred, a strong wind caused his boat to capsize. With his boat upside down, Fred was stranded on top, and his life preserver was underneath. Students worked together to complete three tasks, including turning Fred's boat right side up, getting Fred back into his boat, and putting Fred's life preserver on while following three golden rules. It was an activity filled with lots of cooperation and respect, as they worked to listen to each other's ideas and save Fred.

Did you know research shows students work best on vertical whiteboards? College Park's fourth grade teachers put it to the test this week by Velcroing whiteboards to the walls ... and the engagement was amazing! Students captioned silly animal pictures while mastering dialogue punctuation. Peer checks followed, along with an unforgettable quote from a student: "I love dialogue!" It’s safe to say the new setup is a total success!

Gear Up for the Annual Walk/Run—And Help Us Prank Mr. Brock!
We need your help to reach our registration goals for the upcoming Walk/Run so we don't to lose the District Participation Trophy which we have held for the past four years! Mr. Brock, has also agreed to some hilarious stakes if we hit our participant targets:
100 Participants: Mr. Brock gets taped to the cafeteria wall for an entire lunch hour!
200 Participants: Mr. Brock will move his office outdoors and work outside for a full day.
300 Participants: Mr. Brock will walk the Walk/Run/Roll in a costume chosen by the class with the highest participation!
350 Participants: Mr. Brock gets SLIMED!!!!

Sign Up for College Park’s Lego League for 4th & 5th Grade Students
Our College Park Lego League will be starting up again for students in 4th and 5th grade. Registration forms were sent home last Friday, but you can also access one here: College Park First Lego League Application. This is a big commitment so be sure to read the expectations carefully!

Join our Kido-certified coach to learn about one of the over 20 differenct sports and activities. Different sports each week build core skills, and our focus is on experience, not excellence. Every kid gets equipment and every kid participates. Bring a water bottle and be dressed to play. For grades K5 through 5th grade.

Greendale Schools is hiring Lunchroom and Playground Supervisors for the elementary schools. Join us on school days from 11:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Starting pay is $13.50 per hour, and schedules are flexible, including 2-3 days a week. Parents, grandparents: this job could be for you. Come and support student safety in the Lunchroom and Playground.
Lunch Servers at the elementary and middle school level, and Food Service Substitutes are also needed. Are you looking for a part-time job while the kids are in school? Work a flexible schedule to match your kid's school schedule, and help out in our Food Service program. Hours are flexible, usually between 9 a.m. and 2 pm. Starting pay is $14.50 per hour. Contact the Director of Human Resources, Julie Grotophorst, at julie.grotophorst@greendaleschools.org or 414-423-2703 to apply for any of these positions.
Earlier this week, fourth graders at College Park kicked off the year with activities from our 'Character Strong' curriculum about building a class community. They brain-stormed ideas about what it means to be kind, strong, and well. They also colored 'team jerseys' to show they are all an important part of our fourth grade team.
College Park students and families arrived on the first day of school with smiles and excitement for the new school year. It was a beautiful September morning for commemorative photos and some friendly greetings from the staff. We're off to a great start, College Park!
