Originally built in 1970, construction was recently completed on College Park Elementary School. The project, funded by the 2018 $33.8 Million Facilities Improvement Referendum, provided updates in four main categories deemed important by the Greendale Community:
- Increasing security and school safety
- Improving learning environments
- Creating flexible and adaptable work spaces
- Improving building efficiency and sustainability
The 2019-2020 renovation included an addition of three new classrooms and development of a dedicated main school entrance, featuring secure sequence admittance to the school building. Extensive renovations inside the building were completed in the gymnasium (including a new gym floor), library, MPR, kitchen, and classrooms. New classrooms were created for world language and art instruction. New security doors, cameras and locks were installed, and the building was secured for community use of the gym and MPR during off-hours. Air conditioning was added, along with LED lighting and occupancy sensors in the new areas.
